Zoe Slater, one of Albert Square’s most memorable characters, made her grand entrance with the Slater family in September 2000. Alongside her sisters Kat, Lynne, and Little Mo, their father Charlie, and grandmother Mo Harris, Zoe quickly became a central figure in Walford. A year after arriving, Zoe’s life took a dramatic turn when a heated argument with Kat about leaving to live with Uncle Harry ended with the shocking revelation that Kat was her real mother. Kat explained that she had been raped by Harry at 13, making Harry both Zoe’s father and uncle. Zoe was beyond shell-shocked, leading to a series of emotional events that included Kat’s suicide attempt and Zoe running away.

Zoe’s time away was tumultuous. She ended up being coerced into prostitution by Roxy Drake, a pimp, only to be rescued by Kat. Upon her return, Zoe’s engagement to Anthony Trueman fell apart, and she briefly dated Dennis Rickman, only to find out he was in love with his adoptive half-sister, Sharon Watts. In a desperate bid to keep Dennis, Zoe lied about being pregnant, a plan orchestrated by Dennis’s father, Den Watts. When the truth about the fake pregnancy surfaced, along with Den’s betrayal of sleeping with Zoe, chaos ensued. Sharon, Dennis, and Den’s wife Chrissie all became embroiled in the fallout, leading to Den’s dramatic murder in The Queen Victoria. Zoe, believing she had killed Den, was eventually informed by Sam Mitchell that it was Chrissie who delivered the fatal blow.

After the horror of Den’s murder, Zoe decided to leave Walford for good, heading to Ibiza after a heartfelt goodbye with Kat. Her departure marked the end of a chapter filled with lies, betrayals, and emotional turmoil.

Estranged from her family, Zoe’s life was a mystery back home. After a one-night stand with former love Anthony in 2005, Zoe later give birth to twins, but was in a severe depression. She abandoned the twins at the hospital and fled into the night.

Zoe returned nearly twenty years, but life had been troubled. Within weeks of reuniting with mother Kat, Zoe found herself being stalked – and the young woman in question turned out to be her long-lost daughter Jasmine! Twin Josh would arrive over the next few months, but Zoe’s last year was filled with drama: locked up for Anthony’s murder, released, confronted with old enemy Chrissie Watts… In an attempt to steal Charlie’s beloved cab in September 2026, Zoe fell and hit her head. Ignoring the headache, she went to her room to lie down. When mum Kat awoke in the night, in her horror she tragically found Zoe’s lifeless form in her room.
