There were almost no redeeming qualities in Eddie Knight. In fact, the more we think about it, we can’t even find one!

Eddie would deny it of course, saying he is ‘of his time’ or the world is for ‘snowflakes’, but Eddie is very much a racist and a bigot, with a truck load of anger, venom and spite thrown in for good measure. He was reluctant to take baby George in as a child, but his love for wife Gloria (there’s that one good quality!) got him to change his mind. What he didn’t tell many was that when George’s birth father came looking for him, Eddie and his ‘friends’ beat him to death, unaware that George had seen the whole thing!

Years later, historical justice caught up with Eddie. When George told the truth in court, Eddie went down for murder. He failed to tell George about his own mother’s funeral and, just for that, we hoped he would rot away somewhere for the rest of his naturals…

Two years later, when George and Nicola Mitchell welcomed their baby daughter Ivy, a call was made. Nicola answered. Eddie was in hospital, dying of lung cancer and desperately wanted to make amends with his son.

Or did he? Before we knew if Eddie was back on the Square, blackmailing his way into his son’s life… all unbeknown to George himself. But Eddie’s attitude hadn’t changed and Nicola could barely keep the man in her home. When he made horrific comments about Gina, George was finally truthful, confronting Eddie. When Eddie needed water to take his pills however, he couldn’t reach it in time and choked on his medication.
