Poor Ian Beale! That’s all we can think about here at Walford Walk! Eight months in prison! BUT we know he won’t serve the full term – how exactly will Ian be home in time to be Max Branning’s best man on New Year’s Day?
But enough about the future, we need to talk about the here and now and if we could be clever and put a theme on next week’s episodes… well, let’s just say confession is apparently good for the soul…
Now, over the last few years, Linda Carter‘s had some brutal Christmases – but this year sets to be a corker by even her standards! EastEnders have confirmed that later this year, Charlie Brooks will return to Walford as scheming killer Janine Carter – who might have some unfinished business with Linda as she cosies up to new friend Clive. And according to a rapidly deleted news piece from a well-known tabloid, she won’t be alone – reports claim that Danny Dyer could be returning for a guest stint at the same time! Is Mick Carter really still out there? And if so, what’s keeping him from coming back to Albert Square? Does Janine hold the answers?

Onto next week now and Lauren’s still pretending (and not doing such a brilliant job) that she’s ice‑cold where Mark’s concerned. But the façade cracks the moment he tries to spark jealousy by chatting up one of Jack’s colleagues. It works a little too well — right up until Rita‘s attention drifts to one of the dodgy motors they’ve been shifting. Suddenly Mark’s victory lap becomes a confession marathon, with Peter demanding answers and Lauren forced to admit the whole stolen‑car setup. Max and Cindy arrive just in time for the fallout, and Lauren ends up explaining herself to her dad as well.
The mess sends Max and Cindy into yet another row, while Penny gently nudges Lauren toward admitting what everyone else can already see. With Peter on shaky ground, Mark spots his moment — and Lauren tells him there’s one thing he can do to prove he actually means it…

Elsewhere, Barney sits Zack down and talks through the night Joel was attacked — including Nugget’s suspicious behaviour! And while that bombshell lands, Vicki and Ross go digging for answers from Kat and Alfie, only to discover the other parents have been keeping more under wraps than they realised.
Ross looks ready to take things to the police, prompting Jack to call in a favour from Craig in a bid to shield Amy and Ricky from the fallout.

There’s some good news for the Fox-Trueman family this week as Patrick’s return brings an emotional reunion with Denise, while Chelsea leaves Jordan with Sheila for a quick visit to her mum. Sheila wastes no time testing whether Jordan can keep a secret, whisking him out of the house and urging silence. He passes with flying colours — at least in Sheila’s eyes — and she reports back to Gray that their plan is ticking along nicely. But Jordan later says something that rattles Chelsea, and a knock at the door only deepens her worry.
Also this week: Ravi tries to mend fences with Priya, while Eve frets over Jean’s rent situation. Jean, however, has a solution — one that involves becoming Max’s cleaner.

Until next time…
