Played by: Richard Elis

Huw Edwards, the amiable Welshman from Pontardulais, brought a touch of chaos and camaraderie to Albert Square. Best mates with Lenny Wallace, the dynamic duo lived in a squat, blasting loud music and making it their mission to wind up Ian Beale. Their antics included operating a pirate radio station, much to Ian’s dismay, leading him to call the council on them several times. Of course, Huw and Lenny only doubled down on their efforts to annoy him further.

During his time in Walford, Huw juggled multiple jobs, working as a barman at George Palmer’s nightclub and a waiter in the café. In 1998, he developed a crush on Ruth Fowler, who, unfortunately for Huw, only saw him as a platonic friend. Ruth’s unintentional mixed signals had Huw getting his hopes up for a romantic relationship that never materialized, much to his dismay.

Despite the romantic setback, Huw continued to be a lively presence in the Square, his cheerful disposition making him a favourite among the locals. His story took a turn when he met Carrie Swann, an artist exhibiting her abstract art in the café. The two hit it off, and Huw eventually decided to leave Walford to live with Carrie, marking the end of his escapades in Albert Square.
