Spencer Moon burst onto the scene in November 2002, arriving in Albert Square with his older brother, Alfie. Alfie took over the management of The Queen Victoria public house, and the brothers, along with their beloved Nana Moon, moved into the upstairs flat. With both parents tragically killed when Spencer was young, he had been raised by Alfie and Nana, creating a tight-knit family unit amidst the chaos of Walford.
Spencer’s early days in the Square were marked by youthful naivety and romantic misadventures. On New Year’s Eve 2002, he finally got a kiss from Kelly Taylor after much chasing, which led him to believe it would spark a relationship. However, his inexperience with women made him look foolish as Kelly didn’t take him seriously. Seeking Alfie’s advice, Spencer tried to woo less attractive girls, but this backfired on his 18th birthday, leading to a misunderstood gesture involving Kelly. Spencer’s misguided attempts to impress women saw him selling stolen goods from Mickey Miller, which landed him in hot water with local gangster Jack Dalton. Alfie had to step in to save him, taking a severe beating in the process.
Trying to keep out of trouble, Spencer worked as a barman under Alfie’s watchful eye, but life had more drama in store. A one-night stand with Vicki Fowler left her pregnant, though she chose to have an abortion without Spencer’s knowledge. Eventually, they reconciled on New Year’s Eve 2003 after a motor accident left them stranded together. Despite attempts to rekindle things with Kelly, her departure to Ibiza without him ended their budding romance. Spencer continued to stumble through life, including a perilous incident in June 2004 when he got trapped in the remains of a collapsing helter-skelter.
Spencer’s final months in Walford were fraught with more troubles, including a blackmail scheme by Stacey Slater and an arrest after being set up by his cousin Danny Moon. Spending New Year’s Eve in prison was a low point, and Alfie decided to send Spencer to Australia to stay with their cousin Maxwell, hoping he would stay out of trouble. Off-screen, Spencer reunited with his ex-girlfriend Vicki, and by 2014, they were planning to open a bar in Sydney.
