Little Mo Mitchell’s journey in Albert Square was one fraught with intense drama and heartache. Arriving with her family on the day of Ethel Skinner’s funeral in September 2000, Little Mo quickly became a beloved yet tragic figure in Walford. Her marriage to Trevor Morgan was a turbulent one, characterized by his severe mood swings and physical and emotional abuse. Despite Trevor’s manipulative charm, which kept her trapped in the toxic relationship, Mo finally found the courage to leave him after a series of traumatic events, including his attempt to isolate her from her family and the horrific rape that occurred after she defied his wishes.
In a moment of sheer desperation on New Year’s Eve 2001, Little Mo attacked Trevor with an iron when he assaulted her again. Though she initially thought she had killed him, Trevor survived, leading to Mo’s prosecution for attempted murder. Her nightmare with Trevor continued until his death in a fire that also claimed the life of firefighter Tom Banks. After this ordeal, Mo found solace and love with Billy Mitchell, whom she married on Christmas Day 2002. However, her life took another tragic turn when she was raped by Charlie’s friend, Graham Foster, resulting in the birth of her son, Freddie. Despite the family’s initial shock and Billy’s struggle to bond with Freddie, Mo insisted on keeping the baby, leading to the end of her marriage to Billy.
Following her split from Billy, Mo moved back in with the Slaters and developed a close bond with Alfie Moon, only for it to be complicated by Alfie’s ongoing relationship with her sister, Kat. In early 2006, Mo struggled with caring for Freddie, who was teething and had frequent medical issues. A series of misunderstandings and accusations from the Mitchells, particularly after an incident involving Ben Mitchell, led to Mo being ostracized by the community. Despite being cleared by the authorities, local suspicion and social stigma continued to haunt her.
Mo’s attempts to build a new life with Dr. Oliver Cousins ultimately failed when a series of events, including a car crash and Oliver’s drunken indiscretion, led to their breakup. Deciding she needed a fresh start, Mo chose to leave Walford. In May 2006, she parted ways with Oliver and decided not to follow him to Leeds. As she left, Mo told Freddie, “It’s just you and me now,” embracing the new chapter in their lives with a hopeful smile.
