Did you know that, despite multiple returns, departures, weddings, funerals and disasters, it’s been TWENTY years since the three Mitchell siblings were all on the Square at the same time. So it’s just our luck it seems that as one Mitchell goes, another makes a come-back!

Yes, Sam may have made plans to leave Walford this week on television, but, in a few weeks time, her big brother Grant will be coming to stay. And this time, it’s for slightly longer than two weeks!

Ross Kemp, keen to reprise his role since his last guest stint in 2025 at the 40th Anniversary, will return as Grant in the Spring for two important reasons: his son, Mark Fowler, who he’s never really known, and to say goodbye as best friend Nigel deteriorates quickly in his battle with dementia. Welcome home, Ross!

Now, can Sam return as well?

Also recently announced is a new story for a Square stalwart! Patrick is going to have a tough time in an upcoming story as he turns to a grieving tool to cope after his son Anthony‘s death. Unfortunately, Patrick may come to rely on the technology, the story of which is part of the BBCs AI Awareness week. It’s expected that, somehow, Nicholas Bailey will be returning as Anthony.

The story kicks off next week, as Denzel becomes SuperDenzel. First, he’s there when best friend Nugget suffers another seizure – and is crucial to his friend in his time of need. Later, he encourages Patrick to try his idea: an AI version of Anthony that could help him grieve…

Next week, there’s chaos at the Branning dinner table, on a rare instance of an EastEnders episode taking place on a Sunday! While the clan settle down for their lunch though, Oscar inadvertently shares some big news around the table – and it’s not his to share!

It turns out that Penny is pregnant! But she hasn’t got time to react to the news when her father Jack does not react the way Penny hoped! Will Penny have the child with father Vinny? And is this little Ethan from our recent flashforward..?

Also next week, Callum risks his career to help ex husband Ben – only to find it’s all a set-up by devious Tim. When Tim threatens to expose Callum’s shifty behaviour, he tells Johnny that he’ll drop the whole thing – if Johnny will step into his bedroom!

Will Johnny really degrade himself by stooping to Tim’s demands? And if he does, where does this leave his relationship with Callum?

Now then… Will Zoe soon be home on the Square?

Until next time… Keep safe! Regards!
