All the latest updates and news down Walford way!
EDITORIAL, Tuesday 15th July 2025
Just as his son makes his debut all grown-up in yesterday’s episode, now news comes fast confirming that actor Jake Wood is indeed returning to Walford – after four years away! After a tabloid rumoured Jake’s return as Max Branning a few months ago, we’re not that surprised here at Walford Walk – just another example of a new producer coming in, wanting to bring his own stamp on to the BBC’s Number One Soap!

We understand Max will be back for a brief appearance in the Autumn, with a full-time return to follow! With daughter Lauren marrying into the Beales, Oscar proving he’s a chip off the old block, ex-mistress Stacey due to depart and Linda having the MOTHER of all secrets in regards little Annie, we’re sure Max will have his hands full when he returns to Albert Square! And that’s before we bring up Abi Jr…
Jake had this to say on his return:
“I just felt the time was right. I’ve been away for five years, and that character Max has got so much involvement with so many of the characters still there.”
“Obviously Stacey, she’s on her own, widowed. Obviously, he’s got a kid with Linda that he knows nothing about. Lauren’s there, his wayward son Oscar is there. His brother Jack, Cindy… just so many characters that Max is involved in [and] has got drama with.“So it felt like the right time to go back and mix things up a bit. There is [a lot of unfinished business].”

We’d also like to welcome Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu as Ravi‘s dodgy associate Okie! Aayan’s been busy with cast promos, implying we’ll be seeing more of him soon…
Next week, the new owner of the Queen Vic is revealed – who will become the Square’s newest host with the most? Also Avani‘s about to get a very big shock… Can’t see dad Ravi being too pleased with this development…
Until next time, people!
Be safe! Enjoy the sunshine! And keep an eye on any schedule changes!
Regards,
The Curator
