WHO?

Name: Oscar Branning
First Appeared: 14th December 2007
Played by: Pierre Moullier
Oscar is the son of Tanya Cross and Max Branning. Born in the middle of one of Max and Tanya’s on/off tempestuous attempts at marriage, Oscar grew up with chaos, adultery and rows: his father was never faithful, his mother had cancer, his older brother was declared a murderer and fell of the local pub roof, as did both of his sisters, which finished Abi and left only older sister Lauren to shoulder the burden when a 17 year old Oscar, fresh out of youth offenders, placed a call.
Having left the Square when he was 10, it turns out Oscar had set his sights on the wrong friendship circle, which led to joy-riding and a home-made Molotov cocktail being thrown to Tanya’s neighbour’s window, placing innocents in danger. Oscar had grassed up his mates and done his time – but his former associates weren’t too keen on letting Oscar start afresh.
Confident in everything he does, Oscar would like everyone to think he’s a bit of a player: he flirts with the girls, but prefers dancing with the boys on occasion. He lets his mouth run off, just like his father – and there’s no guarantee any of it’s the truth!
But deep down, he feels rejected – he feels he’s the reason Max left. “Why doesn’t he want me?” is Oscar’s ultimate question for his father… and soon he’ll get the chance to ask it…
