All the latest updates and news down Walford way!
EDITORIAL, Tuesday 20th May 2025
We’ll start with asking a question: could it be true?
Could EastEnders really be bringing him home?
Who are we talking about? Well, in case the big old tabloid headline over the weekend missed you, it seems, according to a well-known newspaper (rhymes with ‘The Run’), that Jake Wood is returning to Albert Square as lothario Max Branning after four years away!

However, the report details that Jake is apparently returning to help facilitate the upcoming exit of Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey, Max’s one time love. Could he be about to return to whisk her away? Or is he back for Lauren, who needs help with poor Jimmy? Also, you’ll remember that Linda‘s daughter Annie is also Max’s child – and he doesn’t know! Will this keep Max around for the foreseeable? Or will it just be a quick pit-stop?
Please note, EastEnders have yet to confirm Max’s return, but given what we’ve heard, let’s just say his EastEnders Epitome article will be with us soon for everyone to have a good catch-up!

But this week! Well, it goes quiet for a week (or as quiet as Walford gets!) and then all Hell breaks loose! Must be the sunshine! The truth about Barney‘s paternity is discovered by someone this week, who goes to great lengths to keep Zack away – and a chase ends up with someone’s car going into the drink! But whose? Well, it’s going to be tense week for one family in particular… See if you can guess which one?
Anyway, all the spoilers are below. Should be we pressing our black suits so soon after putting them back in the wardrobe?
Yikes! Until next time, be safe. And dry.
Regards,
The Curator

Zack continues to make secret plans, so he asks Ravi to give him a loan to fund his escape. Ravi warns that it’s not a good idea to mess with Nicola, as she recently asked him to help move a body. Linda suggests that Zack should share this information with the police to protect Barney. When Zack does so, Nicola is arrested.
Later, Zack shares the truth about Barney’s paternity with Harry, hoping that Harry will help him get Barney away to safety. Nicola is released but Harry reveals the truth to Teddy – Zack is Barney’s biological father…
Meanwhile, Nigel asks to go to the cinema as a belated birthday celebration.
Elsewhere, Barney tries to help Avani, who’s distressed by cruel messages online now that the news is out over her sleeping with Joel.
Also today, Gina offers to help Kojo look for a flat.

Nicola tries to deny Zack’s revelations, but comes clean when Teddy pushes her for the truth. The couple are then shocked when Harry exposes Zack’s plan to leave with Barney. Harry seizes control with a scheme to stop Zack by bundling him into his car boot and speeding out of Walford.
Worried about what Harry might do, Teddy intercepts Honey, Billy and Nigel when they’re on the way to the cinema. He asks for a lift to follow Harry and reach him before he can see through his plan.
For a moment it seems like Teddy has sorted everything out, but the situation takes a disastrous turn when a car veers off the road and crashes into a lake.
Meanwhile, Nicola spots Barney comforting Avani and gives her a pep talk over the abusive messages. Avani is touched by Barney’s support.

The survivors of the crash scramble to the bank of the lake to try and save those who are still trapped in the vehicle.
News of the crash reaches Walford, so Vicki takes matters into her own hands by visiting No.1 to reveal a truth.
Meanwhile, Avani asks Barney if he’d like to go back to her place. Barney gets the wrong end of the stick, so Avani gets angry and storms off. Ravi witnesses the argument and gives Barney some advice.
Later, Avani kisses Barney as they make amends.
