Mila Marwa, a character who brought a whirlwind of drama and heart to EastEnders, had quite the journey in Walford. She arrived on December 15, 2020, and quickly found herself in a cocktail-shaking showdown with Kim Fox at The Prince Albert. Despite a rocky start that involved a broken bottle, Kathy Beale saw Mila’s honesty and gave her the job. Little did Walford know, Mila’s story was just beginning to unfold.

Mila’s past was anything but ordinary. Born as Robi, she realized she was gay at sixteen and fell for the most beautiful girl she’d ever seen. When she came out to her mother, it didn’t go well—her mother laughed, dismissed her feelings, and even suggested conversion therapy. This harsh rejection led Robi to run away, change her name to Mila, and start anew, far from her family’s oppressive beliefs.

In Walford, Mila’s love life took centre stage when Kim Fox set her up with Iqra Ahmed. Their relationship blossomed, but not without its challenges. Mila revealed her true name and the reason behind her alias, fearing her family’s homophobia. Things took a darker turn when Mila’s mother showed up, trying to drag her back home for an arranged marriage. Mila stood her ground, kicking her mother out and protecting her sister Kioni from the same fate she endured—female genital mutilation.
