Jade Masood’s life has been a rollercoaster ride, starting with her very conception. She was the product of a one-night stand between Shabnam Masood and Dean Wicks, originally named Roya Masood. After being fostered, she was renamed Jade Green. Shabnam later revealed to her friend Stacey Branning that she had a daughter whom she abandoned. Dean, upon discovering he had a daughter, went searching for her and gained custody. Jade’s surname was changed to Wicks after a DNA test confirmed Dean was her father. However, following Dean’s arrest, she ended up living with Shabnam.

Jade first appeared when her grandmother, Shirley Carter, tracked her down. Shirley found Jade using a nebulizer, as she had been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis—a condition that also claimed the life of her uncle, Jimbo Wicks. Following the tragic death of Shabnam’s son Zaair Kazemi, Shabnam decided she wanted to be part of Jade’s life. She and her husband, Kush Kazemi, entered a custody battle with Shirley and her boyfriend, Buster Briggs. However, Shabnam decided she was not ready to raise Jade due to her grief over Zaair, and Shirley and Buster initially gained custody. But after Dean’s arrest for attempted rape, they handed full custody over to Shabnam, who left with Jade for a fresh start in February 2016.

In 2023, Jade’s health issues brought her back into the spotlight as she required a lung transplant at a hospital near Walford. This led to Dean’s return to Albert Square. During a visit to see Zaair’s tree, Jade confronted Dean, expressing her anger at his absence. Despite ongoing tensions, Jade connected with Gina Knight, who related to her due to their shared experience of absent parents. However, upon learning from Linda Carter that Dean had raped her, Jade left Walford in disgust. Fortunately, Jade received the lung transplant she needed and began recovering. After discovering her twisted father had been messing with her medication to get her to stay, Jade happily left for Pakistan and the safe arms of her mother Shabnam.
