Gavin Sullivan’s time in Walford was filled with twists, manipulations, and dramatic showdowns. He first came on the scene after forcing his wife, Kathy Sullivan, to fake her own death. Kathy planned to escape Gavin with Phil Mitchell’s help, but Gavin, ever the manipulator, was one step ahead. He intercepted Kathy at various points, including at St Pancras International and a guest house in Kent, thwarting her plans to reunite with her family. He even managed to kidnap Phil, holding him hostage and blackmailing Kathy for money.

Gavin’s presence in Albert Square caused mayhem. On Halloween, he took drastic measures by locking Phil and Dennis Rickman in a room and threatening to light fireworks in the house, endangering everyone inside. It was during this chaos that Sharon Mitchell discovered Gavin was her birth father, a revelation that added more complexity to their tangled relationship. Gavin’s machinations extended to various residents, including blackmailing Claudette Hubbard about her past.

His downfall began when Sharon and Kathy teamed up against him. Sharon found out Gavin had been in contact with her son, Dennis, despite being paid to stay away. Gavin’s attempts to control and manipulate backfired when his sister, Margaret, accidentally fell to her death during a confrontation. Sharon called the police, and Gavin, seeing no other escape, tried to take Sharon down with him. Ultimately, he backed down, realizing he could not follow through with his threats.

Gavin’s final acts were desperate attempts to regain control, but Sharon firmly rejected him, and he was taken into custody. He later died in prison, but there was one silver lining: at his funeral, Sharon met long-lost brother Zack…
