Courtney Mitchell’s life in Albert Square was anything but boring. Born prematurely by caesarean section in March 1997, it was initially a mystery whether her father was Grant Mitchell or Tony Hills. A DNA test soon cleared things up, revealing Grant as her dad. Drama struck on New Year’s Eve 1998 when her mother, Tiffany, was tragically run over by Frank Butcher while chasing Grant, who had snatched baby Courtney.

In October 1999, Courtney and Grant packed their bags for a fresh start in Rio de Janeiro. There, Courtney lived with her dad and stepmother, Carla. Fast forward to 2006, and Courtney returned to London, bringing a dose of mischief with her. She had a knack for causing trouble, bullying her cousin Ben and rebelling against her father. Things got messy when Ben claimed Grant had killed Tiffany, leading to a lot of tension and disbelief.

Courtney wasn’t a fan of Grant’s wife, Carla, and their relationship soured further when Grant discovered Carla’s plans to fleece him. With Carla out of the picture, Grant and Courtney headed to Portugal for another fresh start. The drama didn’t end there, as Courtney returned to Walford in 2016. She navigated family tensions, discovered secrets about her mother’s death, and dealt with her father’s run-ins with the law. Courtney even found herself caught in the middle of a potential romance with Mark Fowler, unaware he was her half-brother.

By September 2016, after a whirlwind of events, Courtney left for Portugal again with Grant.
