Tony Hills rolled into Walford in September 1995, with his sister Sarah, bringing a bit of Norfolk flair to Albert Square. Tony initially stirred the pot by selling ecstasy with his friend, Dan Zappieri. However, he decided to quit the shady business after Dan gave Sarah ecstasy without her knowing. That was just the start of Tony’s eventful journey in Walford.

Tony soon began a relationship with Tiffany Raymond and moved in with her, leading to a whirlwind romance. Things got complicated when Tiffany became pregnant, and the baby was initially believed to be Tony’s. But drama unfolded when Tiffany caught Tony kissing her brother, Simon Raymond, igniting a romance between the two men. The baby, meanwhile, turned out to be Grant Mitchell’s after a paternity test confirmed Tony wasn’t the father.

Tony and Simon’s relationship was a rollercoaster, riddled with turbulence. Tony had affairs with singer Frankie Pierre and journalist Polly Becker, much to Simon’s dismay. Tony’s stint as a trainee journalist at the Walford Gazette and his notorious pro-drug statement, “no-one ever died from taking E,” added to the chaos. A relationship with Teresa di Marco followed, but after Tiffany’s tragic death and Simon’s near-fatal house fire, Tony and Simon reconciled. Despite Simon’s struggle to accept Tony’s bisexuality, Tony convinced him of his commitment, and they left Albert Square in April 1999 to explore Europe together.
