Rob Minter’s arrival in Albert Square on 21st June 2006 was anything but ordinary. Introduced at a Walford Community Charitable Trust meeting by Victor Brown, Rob quickly made an impression. At a charity auction, he even tried to outbid Ian Beale, who was bidding for a bracelet for Dawn Swann, posing as Ian’s wife while the real Jane Beale ran their café. Rob ultimately let Ian win the bracelet, and soon after, he and Dawn began dating. Things got complicated when Rob discovered that “Jane” was actually Dawn, but their romance continued regardless.
The plot thickened in November 2006 when it was revealed that Dr. May Wright, Walford’s new GP, was actually Rob’s estranged wife. Though they were separated, May wanted to rekindle their marriage. Rob ended things with Dawn to reconcile with May, only to find out Dawn was pregnant with his baby. While Dawn initially planned an abortion, May, unable to conceive, proposed an alternate plan—they offered to buy Dawn’s baby. Dawn agreed at first but later grew unsettled seeing Rob and May preparing for “their” baby. Misunderstandings and a failed attempt to abort the baby herself led to Rob returning to May.
May’s obsession with having the baby reached new heights, leading Rob to finally leave her for Dawn. In retaliation, May reported Rob for fraudulent credit card activity, getting him suspended and eventually fired. Things escalated further when May tried to seduce Rob one last time. Upon discovering her meticulously prepared nursery, Rob realized the extent of May’s obsession and decided they had to leave Walford immediately. Misunderstandings about a black eye and a public attack on Keith Miller made things even messier.
Rob’s final plan involved proposing to Dawn and claiming to have a new job away from the Square, but it was all a ruse to imprison Dawn and take her baby. Dawn managed to escape after a dramatic struggle, knocking Rob out and fleeing. When Rob returned to apologize, Dawn’s family took matters into their own hands, holding him hostage briefly. After a series of harrowing events, including May’s attempt to abduct Dawn’s baby, Rob’s true intentions were revealed. His attempt to propose to Dawn again was met with a punch, and he was dragged out, never to be seen again.
