Naomi Julien made quite the entrance when she arrived in Albert Square as Sonia Fowler’s nurse friend. Initially, she settled in with Dot and Jim Branning, but later moved in with the ever-entertaining duo of Garry Hobbs and Minty Peterson. Garry, always the charmer, quickly took a liking to Naomi, and the two shared a kiss. However, things got complicated when Naomi developed romantic feelings for Sonia. Sonia, already struggling with her marriage to Martin Fowler, confided in Naomi about her marital troubles. Consolation quickly turned to confusion when the two shared a kiss, which Sonia immediately regretted. This put Naomi squarely in Martin’s crosshairs, making them fast enemies.

Despite the initial tension, Naomi accepted that Sonia still had feelings for Martin and tried to remain friends. But love is never simple in Walford, and eventually, Sonia left Martin to live with Naomi. The romance, however, was short-lived. The pair soon began to argue about Sonia and Martin’s ongoing battle for custody of their biological daughter, Rebecca Fowler. Naomi felt side-lined as Sonia prioritised Rebecca, leading to Naomi throwing Sonia out and ending their relationship.

Naomi didn’t sit still for long, though. She joined Dr. May Wright at the local surgery and even planned to buy a house with Garry and Minty. Her career looked promising when she landed a job at the local children’s hospital. However, things took a dark turn when she discovered Dr. May Wright was taking pills prescribed to another patient. Despite agreeing to keep quiet, May didn’t trust Naomi and framed her by planting the pills on her. Faced with the threat of having her career ruined, Naomi reluctantly pulled out of the house sale and left Walford, despite efforts from Garry, Minty, and Dawn Swann to get her to expose May.
