Mags Czajkowski, the half-Polish, half-English caterer from Leeds, made quite a splash when she arrived in Albert Square in 1987. Coming in to help Den Watts with the catering at the Queen Vic after Angie Watts’ departure, Mags quickly got involved in the hustle and bustle of Walford. Her catering business, Symphony Foods, kept her busy, but it was her romantic escapades that really added flavour to her storyline.

Magda, as she was commonly known, found herself entangled in a romance with Den Watts, often staying overnight at the pub. However, she saw their relationship as more of a fun fling than anything serious. While Den was away, she started another romantic venture with Simon Wicks. This led to quite the drama when Den returned and, upon discovering their affair, promptly sacked Simon from his job at the Vic.

As her relationship with Simon grew, Magda decided she wanted to live permanently in Walford. She rented Kelvin Carpenter’s basement flat and began house-hunting in earnest. However, luck was not on her side. Over the course of eight months, she was gazumped three times, with the third instance coinciding with her breakup with Simon. This series of unfortunate events left Magda exhausted and disillusioned.

Deciding that Walford wasn’t the place for her after all, Magda moved to Fulham to live with a friend who had a spare room and was conveniently closer to most of her clients.
