Danny Moon brought a whirlwind of trouble to Albert Square when he arrived with his older brother, Jake. The cousins of Alfie Moon, Danny and Jake were far from welcomed guests, especially since Alfie had taken the fall for their credit card fraud and spent three years in prison for it. Danny, ever the troublemaker, worked for his enemy Andy Hunter until Andy’s untimely demise. Just to spite Andy, Danny even had a brief fling with Andy’s estranged wife, Sam Mitchell.

2005 saw Danny’s behaviour spiral out of control. Alongside Jake, he took up a job as a doorman for gangster Johnny Allen. Things took a fiery turn when Danny set Johnny’s house on fire, furious that Johnny wouldn’t take him seriously and had stolen his business ideas. Johnny retaliated by dragging Danny into his car, with Jake hopping in to stay by his brother’s side. In a dramatic twist, Johnny drove them to a forest and prepared to shoot Danny. Jake managed to escape from the car and tried to persuade Johnny to spare his brother. The episode ended with Johnny raising his gun, leaving viewers on tenterhooks. Months later, Jake revealed that Johnny had let them go on the condition that Danny never returned to Walford. Danny supposedly went abroad, leaving Jake to fend for himself.

But trouble always had a way of finding Danny. Johnny returned with a plan to wipe out the Mitchells, enlisting Danny’s help. This led to a confrontation between Danny and Jake, during which Danny revealed he had video evidence of killing Dennis Rickman on New Year’s Eve. A struggle ensued, resulting in Jake being knocked unconscious by Danny. Under Johnny’s orders, Danny marched the Mitchells into the woods, armed with a shotgun and a spade, ready to bury them. Just as he was about to kill Grant Mitchell, Jake appeared, armed with a pistol he had found during their earlier scuffle. Intending to save the Mitchells by wounding his brother, Jake accidentally killed Danny with a fatal shot.
