Joel Reynolds and Ronnie Mitchell’s story was like something out of a dramatic soap opera, oh wait, it was! Joel was Ronnie’s first love, and their teenage romance led to the birth of their daughter, Danielle Jones, when they were just 14. Sadly, Danielle was cruelly taken from them in April 2009. Although Joel was mentioned multiple times since Ronnie’s debut in 2007, their paths didn’t cross until years later when fate, or rather Janine Butcher, intervened.

Janine, ever the troublemaker, stole Ronnie’s address book and invited Joel to The Queen Vic. When Ronnie recognized Joel, she was so shocked she dropped their drinks. Their old chemistry quickly rekindled, despite Archie’s attempts to keep them apart. Archie even went as far as paying Joel to stay away, but love – and a bit of stubbornness – found its way. Joel and Ronnie met up, rediscovered their connection, and even ended up sleeping together. But when Stephanie, Joel’s wife, turned up to warn Ronnie off, things got complicated.

Despite the drama, Joel chose Ronnie and moved in with her at The Vic. But just when it seemed like they might find happiness, Roxy dropped the bombshell about Danielle, revealing she had died only months earlier. Joel comforted Ronnie, expressing his wish that he could have been there for her. However, their attempt to start anew fell apart when Joel revealed he had a vasectomy, crushing Ronnie’s hopes for another child. Feeling betrayed, Ronnie admitted she was only with him to get pregnant and threw him out. Joel, hurt, walked away, accusing Ronnie of being “dead inside,” and took her locket with him.

Tragically, Joel and his wife Stephanie later died in a speedboat accident in January 2016, as reported in the Walford Gazette.
