Qadim Shah was a character who knew how to make an entrance in Walford, bringing a whirlwind of drama with him. His first appearance was when he met his daughter Amira’s new boyfriend, Syed Masood, and the Masood family. Things got tense when Amira stormed out, and Qadim immediately pointed the finger at Syed, wishing his daughter would stay away from him. But as it turned out, Amira was just feeling the pressure and continued seeing Syed on the sly.

As Syed wrestled with his feelings for Christian Clarke, trying (and failing) to keep their affair under wraps, the situation boiled over when Lucy Beale painted “Syed loves Christian” on the wall of Syed and Amira’s new flat. After the affair came to light and Amira revealed her pregnancy, Qadim unleashed his fury on Syed, trying to force a divorce. When Syed bolted from Walford, Qadim returned with a vengeance, bringing along two henchmen. They stormed Christian’s flat and gave him a brutal beating, leaving Christian hospitalized and Syed back in the mix.

Qadim went off the radar until 2011, only to reappear when Amira returned with Yasmin Masood, her and Syed’s baby daughter. Qadim formed a dubious alliance with Zainab’s new love interest, Yusef Khan, adding even more tension to the square. By January 2012, Qadim was back in Walford again, facing off with Syed over the divorce. After a heated argument in The Queen Vic, Qadim made his exit once more.
