Adam Best, the Oxford whiz kid with a knack for stirring up drama, made quite the entrance in Walford. Arriving to meet his mum, Manda Best, and her new beau, Minty Peterson, Adam wasted no time in showing his disdain for Minty. His snarky comments and digs pushed Minty to finally confront him after a hospital check-up. Adam, realizing he might have been too harsh, explained his protectiveness stemmed from his mum’s history with bad relationships. Apologising for his behaviour, Adam and Minty agreed to a truce, setting the stage for his tumultuous stay in Albert Square.
Romantically, Adam had his eyes set on Libby Fox, despite her engagement to Darren Miller. He made it his mission to break them up, constantly flirting with Libby and publicly humiliating Darren over his baby with Heather Trott. When Libby went back to Oxford, Adam swooped in, sending her supportive texts and further driving a wedge between her and Darren. His relentless pursuit of Libby was as entertaining as it was devious.
Family dynamics took another hit when Manda left Albert Square after Minty confessed his feelings for Sam Mitchell. Adam returned to Oxford but wasn’t gone for long. Upon his return, it was revealed that he and Libby had started dating. However, old habits die hard, and Adam’s jealousy led to a physical altercation with Arthur “Fatboy” Chubb after catching him flirting with Libby. It seemed that Adam’s charm had a darker side, especially when it came to matters of the heart.
Adam’s scheming took a sinister turn when he blackmailed Lucy Beale into helping her with her exams. After demanding a kiss and later more as payment, Adam’s true nature was exposed. His behaviour didn’t go unnoticed, and when he threatened to reveal Lucy’s tricks, she remained unfazed. Confiding in her brother, Peter Beale, about the blackmail, Peter confronted Adam, leading to an explosive confrontation where Adam was caught off guard by Libby overhearing everything. His defense turned into an insult towards Denise Wicks, prompting Libby to slap him and demand he leave Walford.
