Darren Miller, the lad who always seemed to find himself in a pickle, had quite the journey in Walford. Born to Rosie and Keith Miller, Darren was part of the chaotic Miller clan. His dad, Keith, was more interested in the telly than finding a job, leaving Darren to fend for himself quite a bit.
The Millers landed in Walford in 2004, and Darren quickly made a name for himself. In 2005, he stumbled upon a stash of cash that Alfie Moon had accidentally binned. Darren splurged on a mobile phone and his girlfriend, Kylie, until she dumped him for not being able to buy booze. The money eventually got nicked by his half-sister Dawn’s dad, Mike Swann, leaving the Millers skint again. Darren found work at Kevin Wicks’ car lot and decided to stay in Walford when his mum and sister moved to the Cotswolds. He struck up a friendship with Libby Fox, and their pranks soon blossomed into a relationship.
Darren’s knack for getting into trouble didn’t stop there. He got involved in a dodgy car scam with Kevin, selling dangerous cut-and-shut motors. When Kevin died in one of the cars, Darren took over the car lot and blamed Phil Mitchell for Kevin’s death. He even helped Jack Branning trick Phil into confessing about the stolen cars. Darren’s relationship with Libby hit a rough patch when her mum, Denise, convinced him to break up with her so she could focus on her future. They eventually reunited, but not without a few more bumps along the way.
In 2009, Darren’s life took another twist when he found out he was the father of Heather Trott’s baby, George. He promised to support George financially but struggled with the idea of being a dad. His relationship with Libby fell apart when she discovered the truth, and Darren was left to navigate fatherhood on his own. He later started dating Jodie Gold, but their relationship was anything but smooth. From destroyed World Cup tickets to a botched circumcision, Darren’s attempts to win Jodie over were often met with disaster.
Despite all the drama, Darren tried to do right by his family. He took custody of George when Heather suffered carbon monoxide poisoning, but Jodie decided she wasn’t ready to be a step-mum and ended their relationship. Darren eventually dropped the custody case and got back together with Jodie, only to mess things up again by stealing money from work and having a fling with Lauren Branning. On their wedding day, Darren realised he wasn’t good enough for Jodie and left Walford in the wedding car, leaving a heartbroken Jodie behind. He later reconnected with Libby.
