AJ Ahmed burst into Walford like a whirlwind, bringing chaos and laughter in equal measure. From the moment he arrived, his brother Masood Ahmed made sure he steered clear of his ex-wife Zainab Khan, who had a particular dislike for AJ. It didn’t take long for AJ to prove himself a bad influence on Masood. The duo’s antics included damaging Derek Branning’s car with a shopping trolley, which earned AJ a punch from Derek. AJ’s arrival wasn’t just about causing trouble; he revealed to Masood that his wife, Aliyah Ahmed, had left him. Inspired by Masood’s reunion with Zainab, AJ left to reconcile with Aliyah, only to return weeks later announcing their impending divorce.

Life in Walford was never dull with AJ around. Zainab, ever the disciplinarian, was not impressed with AJ’s laziness, especially when he brought Roxy Mitchell home after a drunken night out. Roxy made it clear it was a one-off, but the incident added to Zainab’s frustrations. AJ’s attempt to help the family financially saw him getting a job as a mechanic from Phil Mitchell. However, his selfish streak showed when he used family money to buy a motorbike, only to sell it later to help pay the mortgage. AJ’s antics didn’t stop there; he even told Zainab’s job interviewer that she had short-term memory loss, leading to a hilarious apology via a Post-It note.

AJ’s support for Masood was unwavering, especially when Masood’s relationship with Zainab ended. AJ’s fear of children was evident when he had to look after Masood’s young son, Kamil. He admitted he wasn’t good with kids and was scared when Aliyah wanted one, feeling he couldn’t even look after himself properly. Despite his fears, AJ bonded well with his nephew, showing a softer side to his usually carefree persona.

The drama didn’t end there. AJ was offered a job as an assistant manager at a garage in Birmingham. Initially hesitant, he eventually accepted the position. Just before leaving Walford, AJ received the devastating news of his mother’s death. Masood was furious when AJ explained he couldn’t attend their mother’s funeral, leading to a tense farewell. AJ’s departure for Birmingham marked the end of his chaotic yet endearing presence in Walford.
