Cora Cross, the matriarch with a heart of gold and a tongue as sharp as a razor, stormed back into Tanya’s life in 2011, and she immediately shook things up! Known for her no-nonsense attitude and love for a good gossip, Cora quickly became a staple of Walford life. With her big earrings and even bigger personality, she’s the kind of woman you want on your side in a bar fight – or a family feud.
Cora’s arrival was anything but subtle. She turned up at her daughter Tanya’s house unannounced, much to Tanya’s dismay. But that’s Cora for you – always full of surprises. Her relationship with her daughters, Tanya and Rainie, has been a rollercoaster of emotions. From heartfelt reconciliations to fiery arguments, Cora’s presence has always added a spark to the Branning family dynamics. And let’s not forget her softer side, especially when it comes to her grandchildren, Lauren and Abi. She’s the grandma who’ll spoil you rotten but won’t hesitate to give you a piece of her mind if you step out of line.
One of Cora’s most memorable storylines involved her romance with Stan Carter. Their love story was a touching reminder that it’s never too late to find happiness. The pair’s banter and undeniable chemistry brought a smile to many faces in Walford. Sadly, their time together was cut short when Stan passed away, leaving Cora heartbroken but determined to carry on. Her resilience in the face of loss showed just how strong she really is.
Cora’s time in Walford hasn’t been without its controversies: she’s had her fair share of run-ins with the law and more than a few heated exchanges with the locals. But beneath her tough exterior lies a woman who’s fiercely loyal to her family and friends. Whether she’s dishing out advice at the launderette or standing up for her loved ones, Cora’s actions always come from a place of love – even if you have to look down deep for it.
In recent years, Cora has taken a step back from the hustle and bustle of Albert Square, but her legacy lives on. And if push comes to shove, Lauren knows her phone number…
