They see all, but say nothing. The Stall Holders of Bridge Street Market and its surrounding establishments could be your best friend – or your worst enemy in plain sight!
WHO?

Name: Tracey
First Appeared: 19th February 1985
Played by: Jane Slaughter
She knows every secret. Every scandal. We have no idea what her surname even is! She has a son, but we don’t know where he is. She runs a flower stall and has been a barmaid in the Queen Vic since the dawn of time! She’s had flings with Phil and Dennis and went through a bitter divorce. She sees all, says nothing and doesn’t get involved. Maybe that’s how Tracey has managed to survive in Walford since the start!
WHO?

Name: Winston
First Appeared: 26th November 1985
Played by: Ulric Browne
From the minute he called Den Watts a “bloody pedestrian” as he got in the way of Winston and his bike, we knew we were going to like him. Always willing to lend a hand (where would the others be if he didn’t watch their stalls for five minutes/six hours?) he’s also popular with the locals – shaving his hair publicly for charity at one point!
RETURNS

Name: Marie
First Appeared: 28th January 2000
Played by: Liz Sweet
Marie has been Ian Beale’s most trusted employee for years – maybe because she’s not remotely related to him! But she must have the patience of a saint – considering she’s practically running the café!
RETURNS

Name: Ritchie Scott
First Appeared: 21st October 2005
Played by: Sian Webber
Ritchie Scott, the Mitchells’ go-to solicitor, first stepped into Walford to advise on Phil’s upcoming trial and quickly became a fixture in their legal dramas. In March 2016, she was called in by Ben and Ronnie to help seize control of Phil’s businesses due to his erratic behaviour. Although Phil threw them out and yelled at Ritchie, she remained undeterred and later brought Phil home from the police station after his dramatic car lot destruction. That April, Ritchie refused to represent Jay when he was arrested for his relationship with an underage girl but advised him to talk to the duty solicitor.
In May 2016, Sharon hired Ritchie to represent Bobby Beale after his arrest for assaulting Jane Beale. Despite Ritchie’s advice to stay silent, Bobby confessed to Lucy’s murder. Ritchie continued to support the family, advising Ian and Jane on how to handle Bobby’s defense, and even attended his sentencing. Despite her efforts, Bobby was sentenced to three years in youth custody. Ritchie suggested appealing the sentence but ultimately left the decision to Bobby.
Ritchie’s involvement didn’t end there. In October 2016, she helped Phil amend his will to include his children and Sharon’s son. She returned in 2018 to help the Carters free Mick Carter from prison, and again in 2019 when Phil had her amend his will to include Louise’s fiancé, Keanu Taylor. In April 2020, Ritchie tried to help Phil when he handed himself into the police for a boat accident that led to Dennis’ death, but she had to leave him to handle it on his own as he blamed himself.
Throughout her time in Walford, Ritchie Scott has remained a steadfast and crucial ally to the Mitchells, navigating them through countless legal battles with her unwavering expertise and calm demeanour.
