Ryan Malloy, the man who arrived in Walford with more secrets than a spy novel, first appeared on the scene in 2009. From the moment he stepped into Albert Square, Ryan’s life was a whirlwind of drama, danger, and a few too many close calls. With his brooding looks and mysterious past, Ryan quickly became one of the Square’s most intriguing residents.

Ryan Malloy’s arrival to Walford was nothing short of dramatic. Initially a nameless stranger, he soon revealed himself as Whitney Dean’s half-brother, bringing with him a dark backstory involving a murder in self-defence. His arrival was marked by a series of heroic acts, including saving Whitney from a fire started by none other than Nick Cotton. Talk about making an entrance!

He stuck around, which set hearts a flutter all over the Square. His relationship with Janine Butcher was a match made in soap opera heaven – full of passion, betrayal, and the occasional murder plot. Their marriage was as tumultuous as it was short-lived, ending in a dramatic showdown when, jealous of his feelings for Stacey, Janine even tried to poison him to death. But Ryan’s feelings didn’t stop there. His affair with Stacey Slater resulted in the birth of his daughter, Lily, adding another reason for Janine to let this one live and walk away. He had no idea how lucky he was.

Ryan’s time in Walford was also marked by his various run-ins with the law. From petty theft to more serious crimes, Ryan’s knack for finding trouble was unparalleled. His stint in prison and subsequent attempts to go straight showed a man constantly battling his darker impulses. Loyal to a fault to his little sister, he pursued her abuser Rob and dove off a pier with him! Rob died, but Ryan sloped away before he could be caught by police.

In 2023, Ryan made a brief return to Walford, stirring up old memories and new conflicts. His plan to take Lily away from Stacey was thwarted, leading to an argument with her about custody and child payments. He left wanting Lily to go and live with him, a request she declined, for now…
