Ruby Allen, the daughter of the infamous crime boss Johnny Allen, seemed to spend her teenage years proving that being the daughter of a gangster is anything but boring.

In the early days, she formed a close friendship with Stacey Slater. The two were inseparable, sharing secrets and navigating the ups and downs of teenage life. But Ruby’s world was turned upside down when her father’s criminal activities caught up with him, leaving her to fend for herself. Despite the chaos, Ruby’s resilience shone through as she tried to carve out a life of her own, away from her father’s shadow.

Fast forward to 2018, and Ruby made a dramatic return to Walford, reuniting with her old friend Stacey. This time, she was determined to make a fresh start, but the past had a way of catching up with her. Ruby found herself at the centre of a harrowing storyline involving sexual consent, bravely standing up for herself and becoming a voice for many women in similar situations. Her strength and determination during this time showed just how far she had come from the scared teenager who first arrived in the Square.

Her relationship with Martin Fowler, Stacey’s ex, was never going to be smooth sailing. Ruby struggled with fertility and her eventual miscarriage made her more determined than ever to have a child.

She ended up lying to Martin after marrying him, setting Stacey up for a assault that never happened. Jean was fuming, and so, when the opportunity to get rid of Mo’s cannabis arose, Jean planted the whole stash on Ruby’s hands, landing her in prison. As she was escorted away she informed Martin that she was finally pregnant with their child, but Martin, unable to trust her, didn’t believe her and walked away.

Sharon would find out years later while in prison that Ruby had indeed given birth to a child, a son. Tragically, not long after she and Martin were reunited, a family for their ill son Roman, they were caught in the Vic explosion and Martin did not come out alive, leaving Ruby devastated. After making amends with Stacey and deciding to rename her son Fowler after Martin, Ruby and Roman walked into the sunset…
