Mick Carter, the man who brought warmth and a bit of cheek to Albert Square, first took over The Queen Vic on Christmas Day 2013 – and his charm and sense of humour quickly made him a hit with the punters! With his wife Linda by his side, Mick turned the pub into the beating heart of the community, where everyone felt welcome – even if they were just there for a cheeky pint.

He and Linda had their fair share of ups and downs, from dealing with Linda’s alcoholism to the shocking revelation that Mick’s “sister” Shirley was actually his mother. Talk about family drama! Despite the chaos, Mick’s love for his family never wavered. His relationships with his children – Lee, Nancy, Johnny, and Ollie – were filled with tender moments and the occasional shouting match, but always underpinned by a deep bond.

Mick also dealt with demons from his past. He struggled with the trauma of being sexually abused by Katy Lewis when he was a child. This revelation rocked Mick to his core and showed a more vulnerable side to the usually upbeat landlord. His journey to confront his past and seek justice was both heart-breaking and inspiring – and worth it when Katy went down. He also discovered another daughter, Frankie, who he became close with eventually.

Mick’s been tempted by others: Whitney tried her luck in confusion, but it was always Linda who held his heart, and their love story, with all its trials and tribulations, remained one of the most enduring. It seemed nothing could break them apart, but Linda’s alcoholism and her affair with Max left them broken.

And that’s when maneater Janine Butcher stepped in. She married Mick, much to Linda’s heartbreak.

But Janine had framed Linda and made her life Hell. Two days after the wedding, Mick found himself jumping into the sea to rescue his beloved L. He disappeared at sea and his fate remains uncertain, leaving a Mick-shaped hole in the heart of The Queen Vic.
