Mariam Ahmed, the warm-hearted matriarch of the Ahmed family, quickly became a beloved figure in the community, known for her nurturing spirit and unwavering dedication to fostering children – not to mention a dab hand at removing bullets and stitching people up! With a smile that could light up the darkest of days, Mariam brought a touch of kindness to Walford.
Mariam’s home became a safe haven for many children in need. She and Arshad had fostered over 100 children before moving to the Square, and they continued their mission with the same passion and care. When Harley, one of their charges was the kidnapped, the tension was palpable as the residents of Albert Square rallied to find the missing boy. Mariam’s strength and determination during this crisis were truly inspiring. She never lost hope, and her unwavering faith in the goodness of people ultimately led to Harley’s safe return.
As the aunt of Masood Ahmed and grandmother to Iqra and Habiba, she often found herself in the middle of family dramas. Her ability to mediate conflicts and bring people together was nothing short of miraculous. And let’s not forget her hilarious attempts to keep up with the younger generation’s antics – Mariam’s reactions to modern technology were pure gold!
In 2019, Mariam and Arshad decided to leave Walford. Mariam Ahmed may have moved on, but surely her words would continue to inspire those who knew her.
