Lucas Johnson, the man who could switch from saint to sinner faster than you can say “Albert Square,” first showed his face when Chelsea daughter reached out to him. We’re betting she didn’t realise how much she’d regret it at the time. With his smooth talk and preacher’s charm, Lucas seemed like the perfect addition to the community. But as we all know, in Walford, appearances can be deceiving.
Initially, he was the estranged father trying to reconnect with his daughter, Chelsea Fox. His reunion with Chelsea and subsequent relationship with Denise Fox seemed like a fresh start. But Lucas’s past was never far behind. His dark side emerged when his ex-wife Trina showed up, leading to a series of events that would make even the most hardened Walford resident shudder. Trina’s tragic death in the allotments was just the beginning of Lucas’s descent into madness, as he left her die after an accident.
This drove Lucas insane with worry and he began a murder spree. Yes, you read that right – a preacher turned serial killer. Lucas’s victims also included prostitutes, Sugar the family dog and Denise’s ex-husband Owen Turner. He even went as far as faking Denise’s death and holding her captive in a basement. Talk about taking “till death do us part” a bit too literally! His actions left the residents of Albert Square reeling and cemented his place as one of the most notorious villains the Square had ever seen.
Like every bad penny, however, Lucas wouldn’t be gone forever. After serving time in prison, he returned to Walford in 2020, determined to make amends. His attempts to rebuild his life and reconnect with his family showed a more vulnerable side to the man who once terrorised the Square. But as always, trouble was never far away, and Lucas found himself entangled in more drama, proving that old habits die hard. He’s now back inside where he belongs but, truthfully, he’s never far from Denise’s thoughts…
