Duncan Boyd made his first appearance in 1987, stepping into Albert Square as the new curate at the local church. His arrival brought a breath of fresh air to the community, especially for Sharon Watts, who was seeking solace from her tumultuous home life. Duncan’s calm and compassionate nature quickly made him a confidant for Sharon, and their relationship blossomed into a romance that had the Square buzzing and it wasn’t long before the vicar found himself entangled in the dramatic lives of Walford’s residents.

Den, ever the schemer, tried to sabotage their romance by orchestrating a flirtation between Duncan and Donna Ludlow. Despite Den’s best efforts, Sharon and Duncan’s bond remained strong, and they even got engaged. However, the pressures of Duncan’s religious duties and Sharon’s desire for a more carefree life eventually drove a wedge between them. Their engagement was called off when Duncan accepted a parish position in Wiltshire, leaving both of them heartbroken.

Years later, Duncan made a brief surprise return and, officiating baby Albie’s christening, he was once again thrust into the heart of Sharon’s drama, rekindling old memories with her and causing a stir with her new flame, Keanu Taylor.
