Dennis was a miracle. After years of thinking she couldn’t have children, Sharon was surprised to discover that her and husband Dennis Rickman were expecting Christmas Day 2005.

Unfortunately, Dennis was murdered a week later and within a month Sharon was in America, grieving but determined to give the child everything he wanted in life. She named him Dennis, Denny for short, after his father, arguably the absolute love of Sharon’s life.

But she spoilt him. By the time he came to Albert Square in 2012, the six year old Dennis was a bully and a brat, who kicked off whenever he didn’t get his own way. Eventually even Sharon realised this when he slapped her one, and Phil straightened his stepson out and adopted him. Dennis respected Phil, even siding with his dad when Sharon’s affair was revealed to the world.

Dennis got older and colder, rejecting his mother shortly before getting on the boat that would be sailing down the Thames. He had been bullying Bobby, which had angered father Ian, and Ian locked the boy in a room on the boat to teach him a lesson.

As Sharon give birth to baby Albie on the other side of the river, Ian struggled to free Dennis when the boat began to sink.

He failed and Dennis was pronounced dead by drowning when they eventually brought him to shore.
