Stevie Mitchell came to Walford to make peace with his son and amends for the past. As Billy’s father, he had never been around much in Billy’s life and when he was it was not exactly bliss. Billy spent much of his time in care, and Stevie and Billy didn’t see each other for a very long time.

In 2024, Stevie turned up at Aunt Sal’s funeral, hoping to talk to his son, to make the past between them right, for forgiveness and acceptance. Phil warned him away, but he wasn’t perturbed and came back again, this time making a concerted effort to get to know his son.

And he had secrets: he had another son, Teddy, who arrived looking for him. In the end, despite a misunderstanding between them, Stevie left the Square, leaving Billy with a load of money (he had sold Phil’s beloved car), taking any other secrets with him…
