Loyal friend, caring mother and recipient of the Pride of Walford Patience Award, Jane Beale deserves all the good fortune she can get – and that’s just for being married to Ian Beale – twice!

But she was the only one would could keep him centred and focussed. She made him happy, and is, even to this day perhaps, his true soulmate – no matter what Cindy may think.

And she’s done more to protect the Beales than anyone else: to preserve the peace she tried to keep the secret of who killed step-daughter Lucy. But it all came out in the end and Jane was forced from Albert Square by Max Branning, who resorted to threatening Bobby Beale to get her to acquiesce.

Now free, she has reclaimed her true role as Bobby’s mother and was recently seen returning to the Square briefly to bring her son home to her new home in the Cotswolds – where lover Masood was waiting for her…
