Avery arrived in Walford to spent time with his brother Mitch Baker. He also wanted his help with some dodgy deals. Mitch was hesitant (he’d been burnt before), but when Avery collapsed shortly afterwards, Mitch’s hesitancy became intense concern.

Avery had terminal cancer and knew it. He had accepted it and simply wanted to say goodbye to his brother and secure his two son’s futures, surrounding them with family.

Avery died in his brother’s arms, leaving his sons with bankruptcy, but at least he made sure they had secured a home with the Taylors, where Finlay and Felix were welcomed with open arms.
