When she first arrived as a gobby teenager, we all knew Stacey Slater would be one to watch – whether she was getting involved with Slater family dramas or dealing with her competing male suitors!

First there was Bradley, possibly the love of her life. Or maybe that was his father Max, a man she seems impossibly drawn to the moment they’re in a room together? Could Jack Branning be the man she adores? Or was it Martin, dependable but occasionally woefully boring and dreadfully dull.

It turned out Martin was the man she could truly be herself with. Sure, he had a child with Ruby Allen, but deep down, Stacey knew that he loved her. He told her so, the day he died.

Regardless of which man is in her life though, Stacey is a mum first: Lily, Arthur and Hope are her everything. When the opportunity to live abroad with brother Sean turned up, she was unsure whether or not to take it – she would have to leave Lily and Jean behind. But seeing Max Branning with cousin Zoe Slater was too much for Stace, and she left Walford behind, taking her youngest children with her for a new life in South America.
