Born to dependable Arthur and dragon Pauline Fowler didn’t give teenage Martin much inspiration and he left the Square a young man with his own family. But when he returned in 2014, his marriage was over and he struggled to find his place in his own homestead. But not for long!

Marrying Stacey Slater was always going to be a handful, but they managed to raise their children – despite the usual bout of affairs, misunderstandings and the occasional spell in prison – in relatively harmony, as friends rather than lovers.

But there was always a spark between them. When Ruby Allen returned with his unknown son Roman, Martin stepped up and even donated half of his liver to the hepatitis-suffering tot. He even dedicated himself to Ruby, hoping to finally have the family life he craved.

When the Vic exploded in 2025, Martin was a hero, trapped inside the building and getting the residents out. He remained to save Stacey, and, while the event brought them back together, tragically Martin was crushed by a beam. When it was removed, he suffered a cardiac arrest and died, just six months before his 40th birthday.
