From the very beginning, Bobby Beale was in for a rough time of it. Born to Laura and Ian Beale, Bobby was the unwitting weapon shot into a war zone as Ian and Laura played bitter divorcées with each other and, before he was even old enough to crawl, his mother had fallen down the stairs to her death!

Raised by Ian and Jane, Bobby was a kind, precious child who liked to play dress up and have a giggle. But the older he got, the more isolated he felt and, time after time again, he would lose his temper. One night he took it too far and, although he didn’t know it at the time, became the murderer of his sister Lucy.

When it all came out, he did the right thing and went to youth detention, but struggled when he came home to Walford. He found some solace in his faith, but his hopes were completely dashed when girlfriend Anna shared a kiss with his best mate Freddie and terminated Bobby’s child. Declaring their friendships over, Bobby left with his mother to begin a new life in the Cotswolds, hoping to find the peace he’d been long craving.
