We don’t know about you at home, but ever since 1st January and the flash forward episode, everyone here at Walford Walk HQ has been re-watching, freeze-framing and comparing notes while nursing our hangovers, trying to unravel the mystery of New Year’s Day 2027!

And we have so many more questions! Why is the Vic boarded up and seemingly Slater-free? What’s wrong with Denise and Jack? Who are baby Ethan‘s parents? Is Libby back for something else, or just the wedding? Who is Oscar dating? Which one of his children will Max choose? Who has them captive?

And perhaps, more importantly for EastEnders, will Max get to the Church in time to marry Chelsea/Cindy/Linda/Pick One? It’s going to be a long year for some of us, I think, not least the cast and crew who know nothing of what’s to come!

We’ll be looking at clues that turn up as we go, but for now, let’s have fun seeing how Max gets into this mess!

Knowing him, it won’t take him long…

Onto next week now, and things certainly seemed to be heating up between Penny and Vinny on New Year’s Eve where the pair were spotted sharing a rather passionate kiss – and we aren’t the only ones who noticed!

Gina Knight decides to play matchmaker with her new roommate Penny this week, but it turns out that Vinny didn’t exactly rock Penny’s world. Is there a chance for Vinny to make a second attempt to woo Penny? Or will she use her right to be stubborn, like every other Branning out there, and refuse to see a good thing when it comes along! And could this be where baby Ethan comes from?

Also next week, the Branning family come together to remember Abi on the anniversary of her death. But, as usual, Max ruins it for everyone else, hacking off Lauren – again!

And speaking of Max, it seems Linda’s new friend Bea takes quite a shine to him… Has his new bride been revealed already?

But before all of that, there’s serious consequences for all involved when Ravi realises the full extent of what happened when he was drugged…

We’ll be hiding, just over here… from a safe distance…
