As a member of the infamous Slater clan, Hayley was never going to have a quiet life in Walford. From the moment she arrived, she made it clear that she was not one to be trifled with, whether it was by stirring up trouble or by her no-nonsense attitude. Her initial mission to seduce Martin Fowler, under the orders of her cousin Kat, set the tone for her tumultuous time in Albert Square.

Hayley’s life took a turn when it was revealed that she was pregnant with Alfie Moon’s baby. This revelation sent shockwaves through the Square, especially given Alfie’s complicated relationship with Kat. Hayley’s pregnancy was far from smooth sailing; she struggled with alcohol and the fear of becoming a mother, often finding herself at odds with her family and the residents of Walford. Despite her tough exterior, Hayley just needed guidance and Kat Moon could see a great deal of herself in her relative.

The birth of her daughter, Cherry, brought both joy and heartache. Hayley’s journey into motherhood was fraught with challenges, from dealing with social services to the constant threat of losing her child. Her relationship with Alfie became increasingly strained, culminating in a dramatic showdown that saw Alfie fall down the stairs during a heated argument. Hayley’s fierce love for Cherry was evident, and she fought tooth and nail to provide a better life for her daughter, even if it meant making difficult decisions.

Hayley ultimately left Cherry in Kat’s care for a while, but ultimately, once she had put herself in a better place, Cherry rejoined Hayley off the Square.
