As the daughter of Mick Carter and Katy Lewis, Frankie’s arrival brought a truckload of revelations. Deeply intertwined with Mick’s past, it was revealed that she was the result of an abusive relationship between Mick and Katy when Mick was just a child. This revelation not only shocked the residents of Walford but also Mick who had no idea, having blocked the trauma out.

Frankie made efforts to connect with her newfound family: her relationship with Mick evolved from awkward and strained to one of mutual understanding and support. She grew particularly close to little brother Ollie, who she found a kindred spirit in.

When Ben was deafened after an accident, Frankie, born deaf, was brought in to help as both characters dealt with their hearing. Frankie helped Ben cope as his hearing worsened and Frankie brought understanding to his scary situation.

Frankie decided to leave Walford to pursue a teaching job in Glasgow, marking the end of her time in Albert Square. Her departure was bittersweet, as the Carters had finally come to terms with the entire situation. She revealed that she’d changed her name from Lewis to Carter, to signify her newfound bond with them.
